J.R. Baldini said that plein air painting is problem solving on your feet. Today while painting at Ridenour Park, which for now is a weekly appointment, I was confronted with a problem of trying to make a subject more interesting. I chose a little walking bridge for my subject, but I thought the background lacked interest, so I moved an entire lake! One can do that when painting. I combined the bridge and Ridenour Lake. I simply moved the lake to the left and placed it behind the walking bridge. I didn’t get to finish, and granted, the painting is not recognizable as Ridenour, but it just may work. I’ll have to get back with you on this one.
