The flags in Ellison Pond were a lovely shade of blue-green which stood in contrast to the yellow greens of neighboring plants. Together the greens were complimented by the red of the muddy shallows of Ellison Pond. In the early afternoon light, I would have to work fast to capture the reflections and the direction of that light. I hurriedly set up my easel and began working. Alan Craig has aptly referred to plein air painting as “guerrilla painting.” Mine was decorated with bugs and a little sweat (Sunday was hot day), but I wouldn’t trade my afternoon with anyone.
