Today was my third official plein air session of the spring. Recent rains, cold weather, and Covid-19 closures have put a damper on a lot of my plans, and painting outdoors has been one of them. However, today was lovely and I found my way to Buffalo, WV. The nice public river access complete with picnic tables and swings, provides a nice place to sit and watch Kanawha River roll by and a wonderful spot to paint. My challenge with this spot was the water muddied by recent rains. I thought I had achieved the correct values until I looked at the photo. The water looks pastey, not green enough...hummmm. That problem will have to be addressed later. I was drawn to this view by the intense greens in stark contrast with the shaded areas and the arching tree hanging out over the River. ...nice enough spot to revisit.
