Plein Air session Dr. Gay Home

Locals are familiar with the red brick house located on Hwy. 9 approaching Ashland from Lineville. All of my life, the aged structure has been referred to as "Dr. Gay's house." Despite its long-time vacancy, the grounds are in remarkable shape and provide wonderful painting opportunity. The home is dated, but love!y and no doubt considered a "mansion" at the time of building. Plein air, a term literally meaning "out in the open" provides wonderful painting experience and improves a painter's ability to see values in color and translate that to the canvas. The white, sun-flecked columns, the old brick, and spreading shade trees combine to create an appealing subject. Hopefully, I can return to this place that promises a lot of painting ops.
