I have worked on this piece on two ocassions; I see a lot of things wrong; however, I like the idea, which is actually taken from part of my backyard. I have a new flower bed in which I planted sunflowers, zinnias, and birdhouses. Sunflowers and zinnias did come up, but I must say I have exaggerated their profusion, something that I wanted, not what I actually have. The birdhouses are true to form. I WANT this to be very loose, impressionistic; however, it's tighter than I intended. That I don't like. I want to emphasize the closeness of the up front sunflowers in comparison to the distant trees. I also want to improve the airiness of the early morning and the sense of spontaneity of these rangey giants. The color...not sure. Is it too much, too busy? Hmmmm...
I love it and think you have found a wonderful balance between up close and distant. The only thing you might want to do is make the side of the birdhouses that are in shade - a value darker.
ReplyDeleteI am pumped about your trip!!!! I can see you now, painting amid flower decked, narrow streets with outside tables for customers who want their espresso out in the Tuscan sun. WOW!!!!!
