By Gauley! 16x16

Since relocating to West Virginia, I've spent time familiarizing myself with my new environment by painting it. Seeing a location with the eyes of a newcomer is helpful. Appreciation is often heightened by first exposures, and my plein air painting exposures to Kanawha, Putnam, Fayette, and Tucker Counties have been delightful. West Virginia has a unique rugged beauty that I find fascinating and an unending challenge to capture on canvas. My time in the Gauley Bridge/Glen Ferris area has been some of the most pleasurable and has resulted in the most paintings to date. This new work is the most recent. The towering blue mountain range in the early morning with sun-lit Gauley Bridge in the distance was enchanting to me. ...West Virginia scenery at its best.
