Daniel Boone Park was on my plein air agenda today. My two hours spent here made for my first visit since becoming a WV transplant. The historical marker claims that Daniel Boone lived across the River at this location from 1788 to 1795 while serving Kanawha County in the Virginia Assembly. However, no frontiersmen were spotted today at the river’s banks, only fishermen and a few people on lunch break, and then there is the crazy painter woman. My goal was to paint fast capturing color notes rather than walking away with a finished product, and that’s exactly what I did. Thanks to a big truck pulling a trailer that seemed as long as a football field, I gave up trying to finish the white oaks that stood riverside. By the time the barge was unloaded and in the water, I was loaded up and ready to wrap up for the day. I will return.
