Plein Air Kanawha County

Today was a lovely spring day, a little blustery at times, but lovely. Aching to get outdoors to paint, I have been blocked by rain, cold, and even snow of late. The weather plus social distancing and closed    public parks have made plein air painting difficult. I’ve had to search for places that would not be in violation of social distancing. Today in desperation, I determined to paint in my yard, which like many yards in WV, is quite steep. I convinced my granddaughter to pose for me, so I managed to get some figurative practice outside in the elements, a double bonus. I didn’t want to exasperate Grace, so I worked quickly, focusing on values and color notes. I’m thinking this image has the makings of a nice larger piece, despite the both of us working on an incline. Thank you, Grace, for your patience.
