After being a photo, I thought I would give this pasture scene with a distant barn a try. The challenge with the photo was that it WAS a photo which means the colors were flattened and distorted. I added a dirt road in an effort to spotlight the barn which I considered the center of interest. To break up the greens, I added a distant field of brush. I even changed the color of the barn trying to add more interest. Consequently, this painting bears little resemblance to the resource picture, so I certainly can’t be accused of depending too heavily on a photo.
