Open Air Charleston Farmer's Market

When I first moved to WV, my neighbor told me I needed to go visit the Charleston Open Farmer's Market. Located in and around the historic train depot on Smith Street, the place is a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and smells, a virtual sensory feast. My new artist buddy Tonie Garrett arranged for us to paint in the midst of this local stop for both tourists and locals, and I had a blast. I'm not sure which was more fun-painting there or talking to vendors and customers. I hope to return. One day is simply not enough. The challenge in painting here is information overload...so much color and subject matter. There are people (always an interesting subject), a myriad array of vegetables, glorious flowers, shrubs, and gadgets. The pumpkins belong in a class to themselves. All sizes, shapes, and variety of pumpkins!!!! Thank you, Tonie, for making this lovely day possible.
