Early Saturday morning, I was nestled on a shady bank of lovely Ridenour Lake painting the light effects of the wakening day. Only a few early risers were there, but by the time I left, the place was alive with several parties. Some were fishing; groups were walking, running, and biking; others were rolling out picnics. I've come to truly enjoy this jewel, and painting it is pure pleasure. My goal was to capture the morning light and the silver tones of water and sky at that time of day. I used my trusty pochade box because transporting my gear up the graveled trail to the chosen spot would be an ordeal. I chose to travel light and paint small. As always, painting outdoors has its particular pleasures, and doubly so at Ridenour Lake.
