Since relocating to Kanawah County, I have spent several hours at Ridenour Park, a lovely get-away at any time of day, but in the late afternoon, it is especially nice. Having painted there during the morning hours, I opted to return mid afternoon and stay until closing time, which is at dusk. The afternoon light beamed across the lake and the background mountain at a low angle and shed a golden hue. Quick lived, this time of day is magic and was labeled by Georgia O'Keefe as "the golden hour," and indeed, it is that. Ridenour Park wears that golden hour well.
