Work in Progress

For years, I claimed jonquils as favorite flower. However, I've cheated on the bloom when iris became prolific in my yard. Yes, I was unfaithful to that dancing yellow bloom that marks the official beginning of spring. Lately, my fickle heart has been enticed by yet another bloom, the luxurious hydrangea. For now, this classic bloom has my heart, and to paint it is sheer pleasure. This piece was inspired by a photo on FB that automatically caught my eye. The challenge is the foliage. Green is a difficult color to work with because of the multiple variations. My goal is to achieve distance by adjusting the temperature and value of the color. I'm not satisfied at the moment; however, with some more work, hopefully my opinion will change. Feel free to offer suggestions on how I can improve this hedge of hydrangeas and the residence nestled there. What's your take?
