The hushed stillness of the barn's interior smelled of old hay and the pungent manure smell of cows. As minute particles of straw floated in the streaming rays of sunlight, I snapped a photo looking out of the barn's entrance capturing the pattern of light and shadow. Having every intention of returning to paint on location before disagreeable weather settled in, I planned a return visit, but got side-tracked. Sometimes, one has to use resources available, and so I did. There is no substitute for painting plein air, but I referred to my photo today and tried to capture what I felt that warm autumn day. Rustic Interior is not finished, and I already see details that need adjusting, but I'm liking what is happening here. Time is needed.
