I spent three weeks painting on his lovely farm in August. During those days, I saw him only briefly, for he clearly had things to do. I was given liberty to wander freely, and that's just what I did. Each day, while I was packing my gear to leave however, he strolled out to my car to see what I had painted. He would faintly smile and kindly compliment whatever I had done. He seems to be a quiet man, but his words are weighty, and I was impressed with his kindness and quiet dignity. We spoke of his dogs, the cows, and the history of the farm, which he clearly loves. His family, however, took center stage in his conversation. I got the idea that this home is one in which love and devotion thrives. He posed for a photo probably against his will, but was too nice to object. Thank you, Mr. C.D.
