Barn styles vary from region to region, and Clay County barns (traditional ones) tend to be unpainted or a dull red with a hallway through the center. On one or both sides of this hallway, stables may exist. Storage sheds may extend on one or both sides of the main barn space. A barn loft is standard. Several years ago, while visiting Prince Edward Island, I was amazed at the immensity of two story white barns. Dairy farmers not only store equipment (no clutter of farm equipment), but house the cows during long winters that include impressive snowfalls. This barn on High Pine belongs to a good friend who gave me permission to plunder. The roofline is skewed on my study, but that can be remedied. What a peaceful morning to paint in this lovely spot. I hope to return here.
