I returned to paint this barn from this side and include a figure at the gate (zoom to see clearly) as an experiment. I wanted to see if the figure would work from this side angle...not sure. I'm thinking the figure would be more distinct with a darker background. Maybe the red of the barn could be darker behind the gate. I also think the interior of the barn needs to be a darker value. A lot of tweeking needs to transpire with this one. Another thing that bothers me is the shortness of the left side of the barn which needs to be elongated to emphasize the height/bulk of the barn. Actually, the barn should have been sketched smaller on this 8x10 panel, and that would have allowed room to accomplish that. I probably need to return and take a wide-angle resource photo that includes the total view of the left side.
