I've had opportunities to paint in some lovely places. I've even traveled to specific locations in order to paint, and they were all lovely in their own way. I thoroughly enjoyed myself; however, it's so easy to overlook loveliness in our own backyards. That truth has been driven home to me as I have painted views of the CD Mitchell farm on Airport Road. I just don't think I could run out of painting opportunities while on the place. Today, I returned to the farm after a two week break, and I was struck once again with the views. I have an artist friend who lives in an absolutely beautiful place, Colorado; yet she wants to come here to Clay County to paint, for there is an unique beauty here that can not be seen in Colorado. ...hard to believe, but true. Alabama, the beautiful is a pretty accurate slogan. Today, I painted barns again, but with shadows in the foreground provided by a huge shade tree.
