A quote taped on my mirror reads, "In order to be a good artist, one must be willing to be a really bad artist." With this second painting op, I fulfilled that prerequisite. Actually, there is already a string of bad paintings in my wake, but now is not the time to discuss that. This one needs a color job. Several color problems exist that I will remedy at some future date. You possibly won't recognize it when that happens. I MAY NOT RECOGNIZE IT! The view was a good one near the tower at Cheaha summit. I simply made some poor choices, but nothing that can't be changed or eliminated.
My need for speed often overrides the quality of my decision making. The medium of oil paint is very forgiving; one of the reasons why I have never been tempted to change to something other than oil painting. We all need boatloads of patience and forgiveness whether we paint or not, but plein air painting makes that need abundantly clear in my case. This little piece will need some extra time, nevertheless, the day was a well-spent.
