My childhood memories of Ashland City Park include a city pool (one for big people and a "kiddie pool" to the side), two or three swing sets, a scary slide, and a smattering of picnic tables. All these were located on a fraction of the property that now entails the current park. Today's park is a expanse of trees that covers acreage, walking trails, picnic shelters, tennis court, and skate boarding surface. We've come a long way, baby. Providing a wonderful place to walk (I know because I walk it) and let the grandkids loose ( done that, too), it is one of my favorite places in town. On some days, the park is heavily used, and on other days, a soul is not to be found. On this afternoon, the birds and I had the place alone. ...such good company. I tried to eliminate information in this plein air study, which isn't easy. The point of interest is the bridge and water's reflection. The idea is to eliminate what isn't necessary. What do you say???? Help me out, you art critics out there. What details needs to go???
