This piece was finished today after spinning my wheels for a few days. I try to paint daily, but some days aren't as productive as others. Creative work takes more discipline than one would think. To be specific, creative work is just that...WORK! I've never ascended the mountain of inspiration and descended with a masterpiece in hand. The goal is consistently work, work fast, and produce a lot. My goal is focusing on daily improvement, rather than comparing myself with others, which is always discouraging. This 5x7 piece was inspired by a photo in an ad, and sunflowers are always a favorite; this offered a "reprive" from more difficult pieces I have started. The truth is these sunflowers were a form of procrastination, a distraction from the difficulty of deciding what steps to take with the others. That's OK. It works.
