This piece was finished today, a cloudy dreary day, much like the day I took the photo reference for the painting. I wanted to capture the loneliness of the swing and the gloom that seem to hover in the gray clouds. The swing seemed to grieve in its abandonment, an emotion that I call the winter doldrums.
