A lovely day afforded a chance to set up my easel and paint the view of our city from the corner of 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue. The afternoon sun was lovely on the buildings, especially the courthouse dome. Several people stopped and talked, which is always pleasant. I'm ever ready to talk about what I'm doing. The Impressionists, painters such as Monet, Van Gogh, Manet, and numerous others, advocated painting in the elements in "real light," (plein air), and encouraged their peers to take advantages of any opportunity afforded them. The practice has become an even more popular movement among contemporary artists. A publication to which I currently subscribe goes by Plein Air, no less. The practice of painting outdoors is the thrust of the publication, and I have become a follower. I AM HOOKED1
