We transitioned into still life painting after the figure painting in the last days of the Alabama Art Colony. Two tables of arrangements were placed before us, and the artists chose their subject matter. The biggest problem was choosing. I selected the little silver pitcher, cup and saucer, and rose bloom. I plan to return to this and make drastic changes to the rose which will entail reducing the size of the bloom by half, resulting in a rose bud rather than a mature rose. With that change, I think I will happy with this little study.
