I was confronted with a model with a broken arm. Should I camouflage, include, or heal that arm? The "artsy" approach might include the model holding a bouquet of flowers or her arm draped with fabric. The realistic approach would include simply painting "what is," the arm with cast. My motto, "Keep it simple, stupid" kicked in. I decided the simplest approach would be healing the arm. One of the benefits of painting is the opportunity to paint what one wants to see, rather than what is there in reality. With a few strokes of my brush, I healed a broken bone. The model wasn't as convinced as I. She seemed to think her arm was still broken.
