Taken from a plein air session, the outbuildings in this painting are "authentic" including their placement. I added the clothes on the line and cranked up the lighting. This piece will be a part of my display at MeccaFest in Carrollton, Georgia in October. Although one of the smallest paintings in the display, it is a personal favorite. ...not for sure why. Maybe because the subject matter is nostalgic and reminds of the distant past. A dryer was something my mother did not have until we (siblings and I) were no longer there. Laundry was hung outside through out the year; I can remember on many occasions, retrieving clothes that were stiff with cold. Freshly laundered clothes on a clothesline is seldom seen, but I always enjoy seeing them...a reminder of a day when life was slower. I did some of my best daydreaming while hanging clothes in the warm sun.
