This 16x24 piece is in progress as shown by the photos with today's blog. The project began with an application of carpenter's putty to the part of the image where texture was wanted, the rocks that support the steps and the side of the structure. The actual painting is now in underway. I am vacillating between approval and a total scrapping of this project, but I will see it through. Art is problem solving if nothing else, and I am in the midst of problems with this one. At the onset, I was hyped about this piece, but now I'm feeling disappointment and not sure why. The painting is not looking (at this point) like I wanted or expected. However, I will persevere with the effort. Maybe Rock Away will take an upturn, and we (the painting and the artist) will see better days.
